Broadcast journalist
A fearless journalist championing truth, leadership and empowerment through storytelling
After more than three decades in Philippine media, Karen Davila continues to define journalistic excellence with integrity, depth and an unrelenting pursuit of truth. A veteran anchor and interviewer, she has chronicled political upheavals, social injustices and human stories that have shaped the nation’s consciousness. As a leading figure in TV Patrol, ABS-CBN’s flagship newscast, and as host of ANC’s Headstart, Davila remains at the centre of national discourse, engaging with the country’s most powerful figures on issues that matter. Davila is also the host of Asenso Pilipino, a campaign of the Department of Trade and Industry on YouTube that focuses on micro, small and medium enterprises.
Her distinguished career has been marked by numerous accolades, from the Unicef Child Rights Award for her documentary on children’s welfare to the Best News Presenter honour at the Asian Academy Creative Awards. In 2025, Davila received the Gawad Natatanging Brodkaster sa Sining at Kultura ng Midya at Komunikasyon from the 21st Gawad Tanglaw Awards, celebrating her influence on culture and media. That same year, she was a featured speaker at the Maxwell Leadership Philippines Summit, where she reflected on leadership, storytelling and the role of media in nation-building.
Beyond journalism, Davila is a tireless advocate for women’s and children’s rights as the first UN Women National Goodwill Ambassador for the Philippines. Through initiatives like Agapay Nanay and Her Legacy Project, she continues to inspire empowerment, equality and compassion—proving that her voice carries far beyond the newsroom.
“No shortcuts. Do the hard and dirty work. Learn the ropes and be 200 per cent in because that’s when it makes a difference.”
