Julien-Loïc Garin wanted to be an actor. He was even cast as the lead in a French television show. Yet he soon realised that his organisational talents outweighed his desire to appear on the small screen—and Hong Kong is all the better for it. Julien-Loïc was the brains behind Le French May Arts Festival. His career prepared him well for these roles, having worked at the Foundation Pierre Bergé-Yves Saint Laurent in Paris, where he was in charge of exhibitions, and as general secretary of the Jean Cocteau Estate. In Hong Kong he grew Le French May and launched, after four years of painstaking preparation, the first Lumieres Hong Kong, a large-scale festival dedicated to promoting the city’s culture and heritage. Julien-Loïc’s love of beauty and culture is perhaps only surpassed by one thing—seeing the delight in the eyes of his audience. In 2020, Julien-Loïc founded Le Cercle, an art consultancy specialised in cultural strategy for institutions and local governments, cultural events and clients engagements for brands and properties. He also launched a new jewellery line for men, The Collection by JLG.
