Start-ups are in good hands with Headline Asia’s Joseph Huang at the helm

Behind every household name in any industry is the solid presence of a steadfast investor. Most start-ups don’t have this kind of much-needed support — a problem that Headline Asia is designed to solve. With general partner Joseph Huang helming the seed and early-stage venture capital firm, more and more founders are indeed finding their space in various competitive markets.

Huang grew up in the United States of America and earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Asian American Studies from the University of California. He also holds an MBA from IESE Business School. Through Headline Asia, he actively invests in start-ups in Fintech, SaaS, AI, IoT, and internet technology. Simultaneously, he currently provides strategic advisory and guidance for eight internet start-ups in Taiwan. Among his successful investments include 17LIVE, Taiwan’s largest live-streaming platform, and Pinkoi, an online marketplace for original designs.

Recently, Headline Asia invested US$5 million in Taiwan Intelligent Life (Taiwan Taxi), accelerating the expansion of 55688, a ride-hailing platform that the latter launched in 2011. Taiwan Taxi has 22,000 cabs, which accounts for 24% of Taiwan’s taxi industry. With the investment, 55688 is expected to become the next lifestyle super app.
