Jose Mari "Butch" Albert

Chairman, Isport Life, Inc.

Though he’s known for bringing Fila to the Philippines, Butch Albert is also a celebrated philanthropist

Decades ago, Filipinos were introduced to Fila, the iconic Italian sportswear brand. Today, Fila continues to be hugely successful as one of the most well-known names in street fashion in the Philippines. That’s in part because of Butch Albert, whose company, Isport Life, Inc., first brought Fila to the Philippines in 1983.

Since then, Albert has also gone on to become one of Asia’s most well-renowned philanthropists. Together with his wife, Cris, Albert set up Operation Compassion, a non-government organization with two main components: iFoster, which works with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to support orphaned children and provide them with alternative family care; and iRebuild, which helps extend emergency relief and holistic community development to vulnerable sectors of society. Both Butch and Cris continue to be involved in Isport Life and Operation Compassion, and have even raised awareness for their advocacies through the Fila Cup at the Manila Polo Club.
