Joko Widodo, President of the Republic of Indonesia, has a gentle approach, yet remains strict in managing state affairs.

Known as Jokowi to his constituents, Joko Widodo serves as the Indonesian president for two terms from 2014 until 2024. Before entering the political field, the Gadjah Mada University graduate was a successful furniture businessman. He gained political recognition after a successful term as the mayor of Solo, his hometown. For his stellar track, he was awarded the Top 10 Figure of 2008 from Tempo Magazine and ranked third in the 2012 Best Mayor in the World from The City Mayors Foundation. His achievement in Solo brought Jokowi a nomination from his party to become governor of Jakarta in 2012. However, Jokowi did not finish his tenure because he was nominated and eventually won the race to become the seventh president of Indonesia. Since his days as a mayor, Jokowi has had a humble personality and a gentle approach, yet he is strict and straight in managing state affairs. Thus far, the father of three is known for many achievements, such as building the world-class Lukas Enembe Stadium in Papua, reducing inflation, and advancing stunting prevalence.
