Architectural Designer and Co-Founder, Unit One Design
John Ding and Ken Wong are award-winning designers, best known for their creative and impeccably designed projects across Kuala Lumpur. Among their notable buildings are the private residences Sierramas and Private Library House, and the distinctively shaped boutique residential tower Rhombus, where the architects twisted the tower to give residents of all 24 apartments a view of the KLCC skyline.
Former classmates at Cardiff University’s Welsh School of Architecture, Ding and Wong founded their award-winning firm Unit One Design in 1996 after honing their skills at several architectural firms between London and Malaysia. Aside from Unit One projects’ typical design elements, the duo’s designs are the result of mastery in spatial planning. Their deep know-how of circulation and flow, how spaces work together and how to design efficiently without wasting space is a result of their architectural school training.
Through projects spanning from private residences to boutique developments, Unit One has collected numerous international and local awards including the Malaysian Institute of Architects (PAM) Gold and Silver Award for Rhombus and the low-rise residences, 388 U Thant.
