Professional Go player
The half-Australian, half-Taiwanese Joanne Missingham has been called the most beautiful Go player of the millennium, but she has the skills to match, being the highest-ranked female player in Taiwan with a ranking of 7 dan. Discovering she had a talent for Go at a young age, Missingham trained hard to become a professional, quit school and lived in Taiwan with her mom, away from her father and sister who were in the US.
She got noticed by the media in 2011 when she and the other female players boycotted the Qiandeng Cup in protest of gender discrimination. At 22, she signed a contract with Seed Music to produce music, model, and appear on TV. In 2021, she launched an interactive online Go course with Gogoldtalk.
