One of the country’s youngest venture capitalists with RHL Ventures, which is supporting and growing Malaysian and regional businesses, Jo Jo Kong also retains a directorship at her family firm Nirvana Asia

Jo Jo Kong is a partner at Southeast Asian venture-capital firm RHL Ventures and one of Malaysia’s younger venture capitalists. With RHL, she is nurturing start-ups and businesses in the nation and region through strategic funding and investment in the next generation of entrepreneurs.

The daughter of Tan Sri Kong Hon Kong, who founded Nirvana Asia Ltd, the largest integrated death-care service provider in Asia, Kong graduated with an architecture degree and later obtained a Master’s in International Business. She began her career overseeing Nirvana’s regional-expansion plans, and its operations in Malaysia, China and Singapore.

Moving on while remaining the director of Nirvana Asia, Kong assumed the role of director at KHK Development. There she managed the development of joint-venture residential projects in Australia, including a luxury residential tower in Melbourne’s central business district and luxury apartments in the city’s Ivanhoe suburb.

Shortly after RHL Ventures was established in 2016, Kong was roped in by the co-founders for her extensive experience in investing and operations, as well as her focus on financial sustainability. Kong is especially passionate about artificial intelligence and the development of fintech businesses in Malaysia and the region, particularly insurance technology, payment systems, lending or mortgage platforms and blockchain.
