The Mandopop superstar dabbles in endeavours from esports to the metaverse

Since his 2003 debut Music Voyager, singer-songwriter JJ Lin’s popularity has soared throughout Asia. He has consistently released chart-topping hits and won over 400 awards, making him one of the region's most sought-after artists as well as a record producer and actor.

Born Wayne Lin Junjie, the entertainer has completed four world tours, performing in more than 130 shows in 125 locations worldwide and reaching over 120 billion streams on online platforms. His latest world tour, JJ20, is slated for November 2022, with stops in Singapore, Taiwan, Malaysia, North America, Europe and Australia.

Lin has also developed live-streaming concerts, dabbled in fashion, coffee, esports and art, and is eyeing projects that bridge Web2 and Web3. He founded the Team Still Moving Under Gunfire (Team SMG), a professional esports team, in 2017, and made headlines in 2021 as he bought a rare Cryptopunk NFT for 125 Ethereum (then worth around US$761,000) and US$123,000 worth of real estate in Decentraland.

In July 2022, he teamed up with Singaporean entrepreneurs Kiat Lim and Elroy Cheo to found ARC, an app-based community pushing to bring Asian ventures to the global stage.

“But even after so many years, life continues to surprise you. There’s always something to reach out for, to discover. There’s still so much energy within, so much to give, and it’s not about to end.”
