One of Malaysia’s pioneer YouTube content creators, Jin Lim helped transform the media and advertising landscape with his online output


Jin Lim aka Jinnyboy is one of the first local YouTubers and social media influencers who changed the way Malaysians consumed media, as well as the advertising and marketing industry. A former radio DJ on Hitz FM, Lim became an overnight online sensation with the short film Ah Wing—Malaysia’s #1 Salesman. After posting the film on his YouTube channel, JinnyboyTV, Lim racked up over 100,000 views in just four days.

It quickly earned his channel subscribers and motivated him to produce more videos, ranging from short films and sketches to parodies, that included hits like Abuden?!, which went viral and gained 1 million views. My Generasi was another viral video that spoke to a generation of Malaysians and enhanced JinnyboyTV's prominence.

Gaining the attention of brands and companies, JinnyboyTV began to add commercials and campaigns to their portfolio, establishing themselves also as a non-traditional creative agency, while continuing to produce entertaining videos for their huge and growing fanbase. From semi-professional filmmakers, JinnyboyTV went on to produce their first feature film By My Side and, following that, the web series Love At First Swipe.

In 2020, Lim established a new production house and social media agency called Aspect Ratio Studios that offers its clients—including brands like Samsung, Dyson, Maybank and established creative agencies—a wider range of content and reach, including commercials and branded content that are not limited to YouTube.
