Jidanun Lueangpiansamut

Writer Jidanun Lueangpiansamut, or Lee, is only the second woman in a decade—as well as the youngest ever—to have won the SEA Write award, which she did in 2017 at the age of 25, for Singto Nok Khok, a collection of dystopian short stories. Born in 1992, she started writing at 12, and has written fantasy stories and yaoi novels before shifting to realism and focusing on social issues in Thailand.

She graduated from the Faculty of Liberal Arts, Thammasat University (majoring in Russia), and worked as a human resources officer in an international company for six months, before quitting to focus on writing. Consistently participating in competitions, she garnered numerous awards. She won her first award for a horror short story written in 2013, followed by Anuman Rajathon Award 2014, Naiin Award 2015, and Southeast Asian Writers Award (Thailand) 2017. Her 2018 story, ‘The Girl Who Was Raped Through Her Earholes’, won the BKKLIT Translation Prize (Fiction).
