A pioneering leader of the MTRC, Jeny Yeung has overseen its embrace of innovation
When Jeny Yeung was appointed as CEO of the MTR Corporation in 2025, to take over the role at the start of 2026, she became the first woman to lead the company. The city’s main rail operator, which runs other rail services in cities from London to Beijing to Sydney, the MTRC is also a leading Hong Kong property developer that additionally manages 14 retail malls.
Yeung joined the company in 1999 and has worked as its commercial director for 10 years and, more recently, as its Hong Kong transport services director. Her role has included expanding the station retail and advertising businesses, and leaning heavily into technological transformation, adopting the use of automated video analytics to predict potential problems before they arise, and signing up more than a million people for its app.
Before joining the company, she worked in marketing and business development for Standard Chartered and Citibank in Hong Kong.
In addition to her role at the MTRC, Yeung is the non-executive chairman of Octopus Holdings; a board member of Cyberport, chairman of its Remuneration Committee and a member of its Macro Fund Investment Committee and Audit Committee; an independent non-executive director of Hongkong International Theme Parks; and a non-executive director of Mox, Standard Chartered’s digital bank. She is also the former chairman of Ngong Ping 360.
Her official roles include member of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council Infrastructure Development Advisory Committee; member of the Council for Carbon Neutrality and Sustainable Development; and non-official member of The Hong Kong Housing Authority and its Commercial Properties Committee and Finance Committee.
