Jennifer Wang emigrated to Los Angeles in the US at the age of five, and returned to work in Taiwan after graduating from the Department of Psychology at the University of British Columbia in Canada. She worked in marketing at Ogilvy & Mather and VieShow Cinemas, but later switched to hospitality when her father Wang Chao-li decided to set up Home Hotel. With her markeing experience, she set about developing the concept of supporting new cultural and creative industries in Taiwan based on the strategy of “Made In Taiwan”, in order to help Home Hotel successfully build its brand differentiation and value in Xinyi District, where five-star hotels dominate. In 2015, Home Hotel Da’an, inspired by Taiwan’s aborigines, launched with a distinct style compared to that of other hotels based on its cooperation with various quality Taiwanese brands. With many excellent achievements she won the Emerging Entrepreneur Award for New Cultural Talents at the EY Entrepreneur of the Year in 2016. Home Hotel Xinyi and Da’an reported annual operating revenue of NTD400 million in 2018 and were both listed as recommended hotels in Michelin Guide Taipei 2018.
