The CEO of Alipay, Jennifer Tan was appointed to the top job in 2021, having been made the company’s Hong Kong CEO in 2017. The world’s biggest mobile payment service organisation, Alipay has more than half of the Chinese market, with about half a million businesses in the country signed up, alongside close to a billion users. Before joining Alipay, Tan worked long term for Hong Kong’s Hutchison Telecommunications, joining in 1996 as a finance manager and rising chief financial officer and then chief operating officer.

Currently, Tan is also parent company Ant Financial’s executive vice president, strategy and government affairs for the Greater Bay Area. She is also the Hong Kong chairman of global professional accounting body the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, chairman of the Digital, Information and Telecommunications Committee at the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce, and an advisor to Hong Kong Baptist University.
