Jay Chou

An all-around artist and certified superstar, Jay Chou has received accolades as a singer, musician, record producer, actor and director. He has sold over 30 million records, easily making him one of the most popular artists in Asia in recent years. He released his first solo album, Jay, in 2000, but it was with his second record, Fantasy (2001), that he garnered commercial and critical acclaim, receiving five Golden Melody Awards including Album of the Year. To date, he has won 15 awards and 49 nominations.

In 2022, Jay Chou released The Greatest Work, marking his return to the music industry after six years. Digital album sales exceeded 4.82 million, while the physical album sold over 190,000 copies on its first day of release. Physical sales eventually tripled to 780,000—a record high for any artist in the local industry.

Chou’s achievements don’t just stop at music, as he is also recognized for his acting skills. His 2007 directorial debut and first starring role, Unspeakable Secret, made him a bonafide actor and celebrity all over Asia. In 2011, he made his Hollywood entrance as Kato in The Green Hornet alongside actor Seth Rogen. More recently, Chou released a 12-part hit series on Netflix called J-Style Trip, which is part travelogue, part-magic show.

Chou and his wife of seven years, Kunling, have three children: six-year-old Hathaway, four-year-old Romeo and their youngest, Jacinda.
