The swimmer is the youngest Paralympic medallist in Hong Kong history

Jasmine Ng Cheuk Yan became a trailblazer in Hong Kong sports at just 14 years old, earning a bronze medal in the Women’s 100-metre breaststroke SB6 at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. In an intensely competitive field, Ng delivered a personal best time of 1:44.32, securing her place on the podium and setting a new Hong Kong record in her category. Her debut Paralympic performance not only made her the youngest Paralympic medallist in Hong Kong's history but also signaled the emergence of a formidable talent in the world of para-swimming.

Prior to her Paralympics debut, Ng excelled at the 2023 Asian Para Games in Hangzhou, clinching two bronze medals in the Women’s 100-metre breaststroke and 50-metre freestyle events. These successes were a prelude to her record-breaking performances at the Paris Games. She has also been a standout competitor at regional meets, ranking among Asia's top SB6 swimmers.

Born with hypochondroplasia, a condition that affects bone growth and stature, Ng competes in the SB6 classification for swimmers with short stature and other physical impairments. Despite needing nearly double the strokes to match the speed of taller competitors, she has mastered efficient techniques and developed immense stamina. Her rigorous six-day-a-week training schedule, under coach Kong Chun Yin, has enabled her to overcome physical challenges and optimise her performance.
