Janice Lee is CEO of regional streaming service Viu, which is backed by Hong Kong telecoms giant PCCW. She launched the service in 2016, having been managing director of the PCCW Media Group since 2010; previously she was executive vice president of TV and New Media from 2006, having joined the company in 2003. Available in 16 markets in Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Africa, Viu offers both a free, ad-supported service and a subscription service. It is known for its focus on Asian content, in particular Korean dramas, as well as Chinese-language content from its Hong Kong broadcasting operation and from its partnerships with mainland Chinese production companies. In the first half of 2021, Viu’s number of monthly active users grew by a whopping 37 per cent to nearly 50 million, with revenues up 47 per cent.

Before joining the company, Janice worked for media organisations Star TV and Warner Brothers, and in roles including head of international personal banking and strategic planning for Citibank Consumer Bank in Hong Kong.
