CEO, Trip.com
The CEO of Trip.com, Asia’s largest travel online travel agency and one of the world’s largest travel companies, Jane Sun joined the company in 2005 as its CFO. She became COO in 2012 and took over the top job in 2016, replacing company founder and executive chairman James Liang.
Trip.com was founded in 1999 as Ctrip.com until it changed its name in 2017. Listed on Nasdaq and the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, the company is also the owner of British travel search engine and agency Skyscanner and fellow Chinese travel site Qunar; it is the largest shareholder in Indian online travel company MakeMyTrip; and has a longstanding commercial relationship with US company Booking Holdings, which owns the likes of Booking.com, Priceline and Agoda.
Sun started her career as an auditor with KPMG in the US, subsequently working for seven years at semiconductor equipment manufacturer Applied Materials before joining Trip.com. During the pandemic, Jane made the decision to go without her salary, while continuing to fully pay the company’s customer service staff.
Also a trustee of the Asia Society, Jane Sun is married to fund manager and former Alibaba chief technology officer John Wu, with whom she has two children.
