Jamela Alindogan

After a two-year hiatus from the news world, Jamela Alindogan has taken on a role as foreign affairs editor and Public Affairs Anchor of Bilyonaryo News Channel. Previously, she served as a correspondent for Al Jazeera English, with over 15 years of experience covering the Philippines and Southeast Asia. She has reported on various conflicts in the region, often facing significant risks, including death threats, due to her work.

Alindogan is recognised for her contributions to journalism, having received the 2018 Ten Outstanding Young Filipinos Award. In addition to her reporting duties, she serves as the President of the Foreign Press Club of the Philippines. She has also completed a postgraduate degree in International Security, which has enhanced her skills in reporting on conflict zones. In 2023, she was among ten female journalists honoured by Unesco and the Swedish Foreign Ministry for her journalism practices, a testament to her achievements in a field often dominated by men.

Additionally, she founded Sinagtala Center, which works with families impacted by wars and disasters, offering therapy services and workshops on conflict resolution and parenting skills. The organisation’s work in Jolo, Sulu, is particularly instrumental for the families of slain rebels and active fighters of different groups.
