Real estate mogul Iwan Budi Brasali of Metland built his empire from building ideal work, life and leisure environments

Metropolitan Land (Metland) commissioner Iwan Budi Brasali is one of Indonesia’s towering real estate figures behind the country’s top residential and office buildings, as well as hotels. Metland was established on February 16, 1994. Brasali was appointed as one of its commissioners in 2020.

In 2020, he and the late Aldo Brasali, who co-founded property giant Brasali Group in 1990, were recognised as one of the 100 richest Indonesians. The duo was credited for the company’s steady growth after its founder, their father Budi Brasali passed away in 2006.

Iwan occupies key positions on multiple companies’ boards. These include Brasali’s various involvements in assets like power generation and distribution through PT Cikarang Listrindo Tbk, which is currently the largest, nationally owned independent power producer in Indonesia.

Iwan Brasali is an alumnus of the University of Southern California, USA, where he finished his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Civil Engineering in the 1980s.
