Versatile, playful and a little edgy, Istasia Sew keeps her looks interesting with strong silhouettes, texture and plenty of chunky silver jewellery
A scroll through Istasia Sew’s Instagram and you know she’s a Fendi girl. Her style is hard to pin down, moving between black, strong silhouettes, interesting textures and the occasional more experimental look. There’s one thing that seems to make its way into almost every outfit, though: chunky silver jewellery. For Sew, it’s the finishing touch.
“I would say that my style is very versatile, I wear whatever I like,” she says. The looks she feels most herself in are experimental but comfortable, with plenty of texture and structure. And when it comes to her style icon, there’s no hesitation: her mum. “She is the person who sculpted my view in fashion and polished the way I present myself.”
Sew says her style has become more refined and expressive over the years, while she has become more conscious of what she consumes. She’s also watching Malaysia’s fashion scene
There is a fear of being extra, and that fear keeps you from looking your best.
