Founder, Silverlens Gallery
Elevating Southeast Asian art on a global stage through curation and advocacy
Recognised for advancing Southeast Asian art internationally, Isa Lorenzo has led Silverlens Gallery since 2004, transforming it from a niche photography space into a contemporary art platform with a global presence. In 2022, she opened Silverlens New York, establishing a space dedicated to diaspora and regional artists. The gallery’s ongoing programming, including the 2024 exhibition Soft Fantasy / Hard Reality, reflects Lorenzo’s curatorial focus on identity and post-colonial narratives.
In 2024, Silverlens celebrated its 20th anniversary, participating in major art fairs such as Art Fair Philippines 2024 and 2025, where Lorenzo curated presentations highlighting the richness and complexity of Southeast Asian art. Beyond curation, she has initiated an artist residency on Kopiat Island focused on environmental themes and climate change, demonstrating her commitment to advocacy beyond the gallery.
Lorenzo is also a practising artist with works exhibited at institutions including the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Cultural Center of the Philippines. Her pieces are part of prominent collections such as the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, and she has received international grants from the Japan Foundation and Goethe-Institut. In 2024, she was selected as commencement speaker for Beacon Academy, reflecting her role as a cultural leader and advisor. Through Silverlens and her own art, Lorenzo continues to bridge cultures, champion Filipino identity, and make contemporary art accessible to wider audiences, securing her influence in the region’s evolving art ecosystem.
