Indra Leonardi is one of Indonesia’s most prolific and in-demand photographers. He began his career at the studio of his family business, King Foto, which was founded by his father Gunawan Leonardi, and has been the leader in wedding photography in Indonesia for over 40 years. To further his passion for photography, he started his own company, Leonardi Portraiture, in 1998.

Leonardi graduated from the Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, California with a Professional Photographers of America degree. He has received numerous awards and accolades for his work, including the 1997 Gold Medallion Award from the American Society of Photographers (ASP) for his print entitled Madonna and Child. He holds fellowship degrees from ASP and the British Institute of Professional Photography.

Leonardi has collaborated with many leading visual artists to create a new type of art that combines photography with painting. His photographs have been exhibited in several galleries and museums around the world, and some have been sold at leading international auction houses. Several world-class figures have become loyal clients.

He is also an avid art collector with about 300 pieces decorating his home and office, mostly from Indonesian contemporary artists and a few international ones. Indra even became friends with the artists themselves and have presented some pieces for exhibitions with other collectors in Seoul, Singapore, and so on. In 2007, Leonardi launched the book Indonesian Portrait. This book contains 108 selected photos from his collection during his 15-year career as a photographer in Indonesia. He has published two more books about Indonesian artists and cultural figures, with a third coming up, Indonesian Portraits in 2008 and Inside Studios: Indonesian Artists in 2019.
