Former steel magnate I Shou Lin looks to develop Taiwan’s southern area into a leisure and tourist hub


Business tycoon I Shou Lin defied pandemic expectations by opening a grand commercial centre in Kaohsiung, the E SKY Land. Comprised of a Marriot Hotel and a E SKY MALL, the project is the city’s largest investment at 37 billion yuan. E United Group is also developing the E-Da Cancer Hospital, E-Da Chang Hospital, E-Da Entrepreneurship Center, and a health industry park, all of which are expected to create thousands of employment opportunities. Lin is a self-made entrepreneur who first started as a fabric hawker in Kaohsiung. He made his wealth in the construction industry, followed by the steel industry, and his company is also involved in the medical, education, and real estate sectors. Lin’s goal is to continue to invest in southern Taiwan to promote local development and create more jobs for young people.

I Shou LIN never went to school, but he founded I Shou University in 1986. In 2008, he was awarded an honorary doctorate from Jiaotong University.
