PChome Online’s founder, Hung Tze Jan, might be a quick adopter of new technology, but he is a print guy at heart

Hung Tze Jan is the founder of Taiwan’s largest e-commerce platform, which connects buyers to over five million products and promises delivery within 24 hours. PChome’s origins are actually print-based—a former book and magazine editor, Jan was running a home computing magazine in the 1990s when he decided to put the content online. Tomorrow Times, the pioneering e-newspaper service, was short-lived, yet it managed to rack up 10 million users in 2000.

Widely considered to be a publishing visionary, Jan also founded Cite Publishing, now the largest publishing group in Taiwan with around 30 publishing houses and at least 40 magazines in circulation. PChome recently made moves to enter the Southeast Asian market, partnering with Tiki in Vietnam, Qoo10 in Singapore, Blibli in Indonesia, and Youbeli in Malaysia to launch quality Taiwanese merchandise across borders.
