Driven by purpose and cultural intuition, Kuok Hui Kwong is reshaping Asia's hospitality legacy for a new generation

Kuok Hui Kwong is the Chairman and Group CEO of Shangri-La Asia, commanding a global portfolio of over 100 hotels across four distinct brands: Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts, Kerry Hotels, JEN and Traders. After studying East Asian Studies at Harvard University, Kuok joined the group in 2014, taking on operational, sales and business development responsibilities before being appointed Executive Director in 2016 and Chairman in 2017.

In August 2025, Kuok assumed the role of Group CEO alongside her chairmanship. Marking her first full calendar year leading the group in the combined executive capacity, she steered Shangri-La Asia to a powerful H1 2026 performance, reporting US$89 million in profit attributable to owners for the six months ended 30 June 2026—a 53.7 per cent year-on-year increase—and a 74.7 per cent surge in profit before non-operating items to US$88.9 million.

Under her strategic direction, the group has continued to expand its footprint and refine its authentic, values-driven luxury model. In April 2026, she oversaw the opening of Shangri-La Kunming, completing the second phase of the group's first dual-brand development following the 2024 launch of JEN Kunming by Shangri-La. Considered one of the most powerful women in Asia, Kuok continues to modernize the brand through operational sustainability, tech-enabled personalisation and experiences tailored to a new generation of travelers.
