Huang Yishan has long explored easel painting with his unique way of thinking. His artistic language contains absurd, temperate and rational relationships that result in a distinctive personal style. In recent years, Yishan has placed more emphasis on the materiality of painting and the theory of space creation. He currently teaches in the Oil Painting Department of Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts. His solo exhibitions include: Beyond the Framing of Object: A Physical Approach of the Narration of Space (Beijing, O2 Art, 2013); Blue Sky (Guangzhou, FEI Gallery, 2015); Dimensions, Imitation and Transformation (Hong Kong, Tang Contemporary Art, 2017); and Half-open Door (Hong Kong, ArtCentraI personal event, 2016). His works have been included in many other exhibitions and have been widely collected by various museums.
