As a cinematographer, Huang Shuli’s debut film, Farewell, My Hometown (2021), won the New Currents Award at the Busan International Film Festival. His short film Will You Look At Me (2022), a story of family relationships and acceptance, received even more prominent recognition: selected for the International Critics’ Week, it won the Queer Palm Award at the Cannes Film Festival.
