Hsi-Wen Wang

His-Wen Wang studied under Hollywood composer Ira Newborn and music director of The Lion King Joseph Church at New York University and obtained a master’s degree in film scoring. Hsi-Wen is the first Taiwanese composer to have learned orthodox Broadway musicals in New York. He obtained Golden Bell Awards in 2009 and was nominated for Golden Horse Awards and Golden Melody Awards three times between 2011 and 2016. Hsi-Wen has played an active role in music education in Taiwan, serving as adjunct instructor in the Department of Music at Shih Chien University, course instructor at the Xue Xue Foundation and the School of Continuing Education at the Chinese Culture University. He was also judge of the 26th and 28th Golden Melody Awards at the Ministry of Culture and the 5th Golden Indie Music Awards and is now adjunct instructor at the Interdisciplinary Multimedia Performing Arts Collaborative Technology (IMPACT) Music Program at the Taipei National University of the Arts and a member of Special Project Consulting Committee at the Ministry of Culture. Hsi-Wen founded Studio M in 2011, which is committed to the creation and promotion of Chinese musicals.
