Hong Nan Lin seeks to address Taiwan’s “brain drain” through talent cultivation

Hong Nan Lin continues his father’s charitable legacy as the CEO of Y.L. Lin Hongtai Education and Culture Charity Trust, which Yu Lin Lin, Taiwan’s king of real estate, established in 2015 with the donation of his own personal assets of about NT$30.3 billion. The foundation’s core goal is to nurture talented students from Taiwan and encourage them to give back to Taiwanese society. It provides National Taiwan University the funding for scholarships for 450 students to go abroad for internships, exchanges, and postgraduate studies, with the intent of returning and solving the six key issues that Taiwan is facing.

The foundation also holds the Taiwan Contribution Award, whose latest recipient of 30 million yuan was The Wilderness Conservation Association. Emergency relief is another one of the foundation’s objectives, and it has donated 257 CPR machines to the fire departments and rescue teams all over Taiwan.
