Henry Tan is the CEO of Astro, Malaysia’s leading media and entertainment broadcaster as well as the chairman of Go Shop, Astro’s home-shopping platform. His extensive experience in media and entertainment includes tenures as general manager at production company HVD Entertainment, and as the media director at Ogilvy and Mather. He later helmed advertising agencies Mindshare Malaysia, and GroupM Malaysia and Singapore.

Joining Astro in 2008 as chief operating officer in charge of strategy, content and marketing, Tan advocated the group’s education initiatives, producing and broadcasting learning content on television to help students with their studies. He also spearheaded the production of more local content, which led to Astro producing movies such as Ola Bola, The Journey, Hantu Kak Limah, Paskal, Police Evo, Vedigundu Passangge and The Garden of Evenings Mists, some of which went on to win numerous international and local awards.

Tan graduated with marketing and communication degrees from Chisholm Institute of Technology, Australia (now Monash University).
