Indonesia’s 33rd-richest person, Hary Tanaesoedibjo from being a former mutual-funds executive is now dominating the local media landscape with his conglomerate Media Nusantara Citra

An Indonesian businessman and political figure, Hary Tanaesoedibjo is the owner of Media Nusantara Citra (MNC), one of Indonesia’s largest media groups, which owns more than 60 TV stations, radio stations and a newspaper.

PT MNC Investama Tbk was founded in 2009, and has since taken a role in the supervision and development of strategies for the holding company and its subsidiaries.

A key player in the local media landscape, Tanaesoedibjo has served as President Director of PT Global Mediacom Tbk, President Commissioner of PT MNC Sky Vision Tbk, and as President Director of RCTI. Meanwhile, he also holds key executive positions in other non-media entities like PT MNC Kapital Indonesia Tbk, PT MNC Securities, PT Global Transport Services, PT MNC Land Tbk and PT MNC Energi.

Tanaesoedibjo’s political career began when he joined the Partai Nasional Demokrat (NasDem Party) in 2011. After two years, he left for the Peeple’s Conscience Party (Hanura People's Conscience Party, Haruna), under which he ran for the vice-presidency in the 2014 presidential election. Tanoesoedibjo soon formed his own right-wing party called Partai Perindo (Indonesian Unity Party) in 2015.

Tanaesoedibjo has a degree in Commerce at Carleton University and a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Ottawa, Canada.
