Photojournalist
Hannah Reyes Morales found her love for photography after receiving an instant camera as a child. In one of her interviews, the creative talent said that what boosts her morale as a photographer is the fact that she could take a moment and hold that moment in her hand afterwards.
In 2011, after graduating cum laude at the prestigious University of the Philippines (UP), Morales immediately produced works that highlight the lives of individuals caught in the strings of inequality, poverty, and impunity. She has produced photographs of human trafficking victims and covered war crimes against Cambodian women for Al Jazeera America. She has also documented the lives of indigenous peoples in the Philippines for a grant from National Geographic.
For her dedication in telling stories, Morales was recognised at the 2020 International Center of Photography (ICP), where she received an Infinity Award for Documentary Practice and Visual Journalism.
Through her lens, Morales has exposed the adversities of the impoverished people in Southeast Asia.
