Han Byung Joon is a prominent figure in Singapore’s technology landscape, recognised as the chief executive officer and co-founder of Silicon Box. Established in 2021 alongside veteran technologists Sehat Sutardja and Weili Dai, Silicon Box has rapidly grown into a global leader in chiplet technology and advanced semiconductor packaging—a sector critical to the future of computing, AI, and energy-efficient electronics.
With a solid foundation in engineering and materials science, Han brings both technical rigour and visionary leadership to the company. His approach integrates innovative manufacturing methods with a commitment to sustainability, positioning Silicon Box as a disruptive force in an industry dominated by legacy players. Under his direction, the company has introduced groundbreaking packaging solutions that improve performance, reduce cost, and minimise environmental impact.
In 2023, Silicon Box launched a US$2 billion advanced semiconductor manufacturing facility in Singapore’s Tampines district. Spanning over 73,000 square metres, the facility is one of the region’s most ambitious infrastructure projects in deep tech. Two years later, the company made a bold leap into Europe, securing US$1.5 billion in EU state aid to support the construction of a US$3.7 billion factory in Novara, Italy. The project underscores the company’s increasing strategic importance to global supply chains.
Now valued at US$1.7 billion, Silicon Box was named to the NextGen Tech 30 list in 2025. That same year, Han was awarded the prestigious Leonardo International Prize for his contribution to Italy’s technological development through strategic investment. A strong advocate for nurturing future talent, Han is committed to building an inclusive and innovation-driven workforce.
