Grant Ashton

Founder, 67 Pall Mall

Ex-financier-turned-wine-loving community builder on an aggressive global expansion spree

Grant Ashton is the visionary behind 67 Pall Mall, whose passion for wine represents a growing community of wine enthusiasts worldwide, keen to explore the world's finest vintages while enjoying the camaraderie of like-minded individuals.

A former City trader, Ashton cut his teeth at UBS, Barclays Capital and other financial institutions in London before turning his passion into his profession.

In 2015, the inception of 67 Pall Mall in London marked a turning point. Ashton transformed a heritage building, which had remained vacant for 15 years, into the world's first private members' club for wine connoisseurs. There, wine lovers were welcomed to a treasure trove housing 26,000 bottles and a wine list boasting 4,000 labels.

His club's international expansion, starting with locations in Verbier, Singapore, Beaune, and Bordeaux, is part of a grand plan to establish six or seven clubs worldwide in the next five years. With a keen eye on Asia, he has shifted his base to Singapore, where his club occupies a lavish 15,000 sq ft of prime real estate in the heart of Orchard Road. The site in Shaw Centre was the former penthouse of movie mogul Tan Sri Dr Runme Shaw.

Ashton's progress from finance to fine wine exemplifies a remarkable transformation that has redefined the way the world experiences and appreciates wine.

“[67 Pall Mall is] very much a social club, wine is just the excuse.”
