The highly decorated chief executive of Singapore Airlines, is a master strategist in aviation
Goh Choon Phong joined Singapore Airlines (SIA) in 1990 and has held the position of CEO since January 1, 2011. He successfully navigated SIA’s recovery post-pandemic by enhancing customer service and expanding flight routes. The national carrier reported a record S$2.67 billion annual profit in the fiscal year 2023-2024. Recently, he emphasised sustainability by committing to net-zero emissions by 2050.
Goh is also a board director of SIA Engineering Company, as well as chairman of Budget Aviation Holdings, which owns and manages SIA’s low-cost subsidiary Scoot. He is a member of the National University of Singapore Board of Trustees, where he was chairman of its Innovation and Enterprise Committee and has been appointed to its Nominating Committee and Executive Committee since April 1, 2023. Goh is also an independent director on the Board of Mastercard Incorporated.
In addition, Goh is a member of the MIT Presidential CEO Advisory Board, made up of CEOs from leading companies in a variety of industries around the world.
He was the 2015 recipient of the Centre for Aviation’s Asia-Pacific Airline CEO of the Year award. In 2016 he received the CEO Lifetime Achievement Award from the Airline Passenger Experience Association, as well as the Eisenhower Global Innovation Award from the Business Council for International Understanding. He was named Outstanding Chief Executive Officer of the Year in the Singapore Business Awards 2017, Person of the Year by Orient Aviation magazine in 2018, and Best Chief Executive Officer for companies with $1 billion or more in market capitalisation at the 2019 Singapore Corporate Awards.
His stewardship drove SIA Group to record-breaking revenues and net profits in FY2024/25. He also sealed strategic regional growth by successfully executing the Air India-Vistara merger and forging a joint venture with Japan’s All Nippon Airways.
