Gilberto "Gibo" Teodoro is the national defence secretary under the administration of President Bongbong Marcos, beginning in June 2023. This is his second term in the position, having previously served under President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo from 2007 to 2009.

As the Department of National Defense head, Teodoro is focused on the importance of internal security and is committed to defending the Philippines in international disputes. He advocates a diplomatic approach to conflict resolution while maintaining a strong defence capability as a credible deterrent.

Teodoro has also expressed the department’s intention to modernise the military’s reserve force to align with contemporary standards, ensuring that the reserve and active forces function as one cohesive unit during emergencies.
