Artist
Geraldine Javier brings her contemporary art to both local and global audiences. Javier’s oeuvre creates tension using religious figures and images of emotional abuse, death, and agony—her own provocative way of communicating her struggle with Catholicism in the Philippines. The artist also uses different kinds of materials and media.
She had numerous solo exhibitions in the country featuring works influenced by film, photography, and childhood memories. She also joined different artists in group exhibitions in Australia, the Czech Republic, Malaysia, and South Korea to name a few. Javier’s works were regarded of importance as most bids for her art start at a hefty sum.
Soon, her sophisticated and complex work of art was recognised, earning her the “Thirteen Artists Award” in 2004.
