The former Cabinet minister is now an advisor to trade organisations and educational institutions

Although George Yeo retired from politics more than a decade ago, the elder statesman is still fondly remembered for his charismatic personality and duty to public service. Yeo’s political career spanned an impressive 23 years from 1988 to 2011, during which he served in various vital ministerial roles, including Minister for Information and the Arts, Health, Trade & Industry, and Foreign Affairs.

Upon transitioning to the private sector in 2011, Yeo took up senior advisory roles with the Kuok Group and Kerry Logistics Network in Hong Kong, contributing his valuable insights to the corporate world. Yeo also serves as an independent board director for prominent companies like AIA and Pinduoduo.

On the global stage, Yeo continues to be a guiding force in the spheres of business, policy and philanthropy. He advises prestigious institutions such as the World Economic Forum and the Nicolas Berggruen Institute’s 21st Century Council. As visiting scholar at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, he continues to engage with academic and policy discourse.

A man of diverse interests and talents, Yeo is a Taiji practitioner and marathon runner. His passion for learning and sharing led to the creation of George Yeo: Musings, a three-volume tome of his reflections on topics like geopolitics and philosophy, as told to writer Woon Tai Ho.

Yeo is married to lawyer Jennifer Leong. The couple have three sons and a daughter.
