Gentle Bones, whose real name is Joel Tan, has embarked on a music career that many homegrown acts can only dream of. In 2016, he was also the first Singaporean to win the prestigious Super Nova Award at the Hong Kong Asian‑Pop Music Festival. The year before, he was the first local artist to be signed on music label, Universal Music Singapore. His 2018 song, I Wouldn’t Know Any Better Than You, has been streamed more than 34 million times on Spotify and he has also had two sold-out concerts at the Esplanade Concert Hall.
