The top Malaysian golfer representing the country in the elite European Tour

Professional golfer Gavin Green is the first Malaysian to win the Asian Tour Order of Merit in 2017, which earned him a European Tour card. He had 21 wins in his amateur career before turning professional in 2015. He represented Malaysia at the 2016 Rio Olympics and 2020 Tokyo Olympics where he finished in the 47th and 57th place, respectively.

Green started playing golf at age 7 when his father took him to the driving range. At age 13, he made his debut in the amateur circuit, playing in the 2007 Johor Open in Malaysia on the Asian Tour. Among his amateur wins was while playing college golf at University of New Mexico where he won eight times and was a three-time All American and two-time Mountain West Conference golfer of the year. He also won the Asian Development Tour as an amateur in 2014 before winning twice as a pro in 2016 to earn his card to the Asian Tour and eventually lead the Order of Merit.

On top of being the only Malaysian to play in the prestigious European Tour, in 2020, Green also qualified to play at the Tour Championship, a final event of the PGA Tour. Green is a business management graduate. His younger brother Galven is also a golfer and is one of the top players in amateur circuit.
