Gabriel Tan bridges cultures and disciplines through design. Based between Singapore and Porto, he leads Gabriel Tan Studio, founded in 2016, which creates contemporary works for global brands including Louis Poulsen, B&B Italia, Herman Miller, Duxiana, Design Within Reach, Schönbuch, Audo Copenhagen, Blå Station and Abstracta. As creative director of Japanese furniture brand Ariake and founder of Origin Made, an independent design-craft label, Tan champions craftsmanship and cross-cultural collaboration. His interior design arm, Studio Antimatter, focuses on distinctive residential and hospitality projects defined by material sensitivity and quiet elegance.

Recognised internationally for his thoughtful approach and refined aesthetic, Tan has received multiple accolades, including the Industrial Designers Society of America’s IDEA Award and the Japan Good Design Award. In 2025, he was honoured with the President’s Design Award for Designer of the Year—Singapore’s highest design accolade, affirming his impact on elevating the nation’s global design presence.
