Throughout its over seven decades of existence, Security Bank, which Frederick Dy chairs, has worked to become one of the sought-after banks in the Philippines. In fact it is the country’s either largest bank, by assets.

One of the pivotal moments in the road to its current success came in April 1989, when Frederick Dy was elected as vice chairman of its board. Two years later, in 1991, Dy would become its chairman—a position he would hold for 24 years. In that time, he oversaw landmark moments in Security Bank’s history, such as the issuance of a universal banking license by the central bank in 1994, as well as its initial public offering in 1995. In 2015, after decades with Security Bank, Dy was elected chairman emeritus.

Apart from his role at Security Bank, Dy has been chairman of St. Luke’s Medical Center since August 2011. He has also been the chairman of City Industrial Corporation since June 1994), an independent director of PLC-Nickel Asia Corporation since September 2010, and a director of Ponderosa Leather Goods Co., Inc. since May 1980.
