Frank Tang

The chief executive officer and managing partner of FountainVest Partners, Frank Tang has led the private equity fund that he co-founded since 2007. During that time, it has made numerous investments in China’s most promising new companies, including Focus Media, China’s largest outdoor media company; leading fashion brand Peacebird; mega app Meituan-Dianping; online recruitment platform Zhaopin; and giant sporting goods company Amer Sports.

Born and raised in Shanghai, Tang was previously senior managing director and head of China investments at Singapore government investment company Temasek, and before that was managing director at Goldman Sachs, where he worked for over a decade in New York and Hong Kong. He is also a director of companies including Weibo, Accenture and IMAX China, as well as a governor of the China Venture Capital and Private Equity Association, and a member of Columbia Business School’s board.
