Tan Sri Francis Yeoh

Tan Sri Francis Yeoh, the executive director of YTL Group, is responsible for growing the construction company founded by his father Tan Sri Yeoh Tiong Lay into a multi-disciplinary global conglomerate with interests in cement, hospitality, property and utilities after taking over as managing director in 1988. On top of overseeing the group’s five listed entities, Yeoh is also the chairman of PowerSeraya, Singapore’s second-largest power plant as well as Wessex Water Services Limited, considered one of the best water and sewage companies in England and Wales.

Besides his extraordinary achievement in business, which has earned him his place among the greatest business personalities in Asia, and his contribution to the country’s economy by transforming Kuala Lumpur into an international shopping and tourist destination, Yeoh is noted for his various contributions to society. As part of the board of trustees of the YTL Foundation, he has actively supported education initiatives throughout Malaysia. As a great champion of the arts, he has supported the Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre and Singapore Dance Theatre and helped fund the restoration of the historic Rome Opera House to keep it from closing.

Yeoh holds directorship at The Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited. He is a member of the Asia Business Council, a trustee of Asia Society and also on the advisory councils of London Business School, Wharton School and INSEAD. He is a father of three sons and two daughters who he shared with his late wife, Puan Sri Rosaline Yeoh.

In 2022, he was ranked by Forbes as the 17th richest person in Malaysia.
