Ferdinand Marcos Jr

President, Republic of the Philippines

The Philippines’ 17th president is taking steps to secure the country's future

Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr assumed office as the 17th president of the Philippines in June 2022. Since then, his presidency has been marked by a series of initiatives aimed at reshaping domestic and international policy to foster a brighter future for the Filipino people.

Upon assuming office, President Marcos assembled a Cabinet composed of officials acknowledged for their competence and expertise. His economic team, in particular, has garnered attention for positioning the nation for significant economic growth. Marcos has also continued the infrastructure spending program initiated by his predecessor, now known as the Build, Better, More (BBM) infrastructure agenda. This strategic approach aims to recover from the challenges posed by the pandemic and surpass the country's pre-pandemic growth trajectory. President Marcos has also advocated for stronger public-private partnerships (PPPs) for critical projects, which have played a pivotal role in propelling the nation's development.

President Marcos has been active internationally, engaging in diplomatic visits to countries such as Indonesia, Singapore and the United States. These efforts have resulted in investment pledges and securing vital economic and diplomatic agreements, enhancing the Philippines' global presence and fostering international cooperation.

At the heart of President Marcos's administration is a 10-point agenda focused on restoring the Philippines to its former stature. His commitment to affordable healthcare, quality education, and food security underscores his dedication to the welfare of the Filipino people. While his presidency was still in its early stages, his vision was centred on addressing the nation's current challenges.

He is married to Louise Araneta Marcos, with whom he has three sons: Ferdinand Alexander “Sandro” Marcos III, an Ilocos Norte representative and the current House majority leader; Joseph Simon Marcos and William Vincent Marcos.

Bongbong Marcos is the son of former president Ferdinand Marcos Sr and Imelda Romualdez Marcos, who has held several positions in government. Marcos Jr’s siblings include Senator Imee Marcos.
