Evan Kwee is a next generation leader of his family’s Pontiac Land Group, spearheading the company’s international expansion into high-end hospitality

Evan Kwee wears two hats at his family’s business as Vice-Chairman of Capella Hotel Group as well as Head of Design and Hospitality at Pontiac Land Group (PLG). He is the son of Kwee Liong Tek and a third-generation member of the Kwee family that owns PLG, a privately held luxury real estate developer and hotel owner that has over SG$10 billion (US$7.4 billion) in assets under management, according to Forbes.

Kwee, who oversees product development at Capella, was the driving force behind the six-star Capella Singapore, the group’s flagship property located on Sentosa island. The establishment cemented its place in history for hosting the 2018 summit between former US president Donald Trump and North Korea leader Kim Jong-Un. Overseas, Capella Hotels and Resorts operates properties in Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, China and Germany, with new openings set to launch in Chiang Mai, Thailand and Sydney, Australia.

Kwee is also behind PLG’s ambitious Fari Islands integrated development in the Maldives, comprising three properties managed by Capella Hotels and Resorts, The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, and Patina Hotels & Resorts, with each establishment is located on its own island in an atoll bordering a deep lagoon. Patina is a new eco-conscious hospitality concept under Capella Hotels, which also has a property in Bali, Indonesia.
