A prominent figure in telecommunications, Erik Meijer has enjoyed a long, distinguished career in Indonesia since he moved from the Netherlands in 1994 while working for Dutch company PTT. In 1995, he went on to serve as Vice-President for Telekomunikasi Selular for 11 years.

Meijer has held executive positions outside the industry as well, such as Chief Commercial Officer for Visi Media Asia from 2008-2010 and Executive Vice-President of Marketing and Sales for national carrier Garuda Indonesia from 2013-2014.

Meijer eventually returned to his original field of expertise, leading TelkomTelstra as CEO and President Director. The company is a joint venture and portmanteau of the two largest telecom operations in Indonesia and Australia, namely Telkom Indonesia and Telstra.

Meijer has won awards for his leadership, including Best Foreign CEO in Indonesia from Warta Ekonomi in 2017, and Top Leader in Digital Implementation at The Indonesian TOP Digital Awards in 2020.
