Sha Elijah Dumama-Alba was part of the team that helped to establish the new Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of the southern Philippines, which was completed in 2019. She then became its attorney general, chief legal counsel to its chief minister and chief legal advisor to its cabinet. She also heads the Intergovernmental Relations Body, which mediates between the Bangsamoro government and the national government. She was selected as a 2019 Obama Foundation Leader: Asia-Pacific.
