Edwin Tong

Edwin Tong is a distinguished Singaporean politician and lawyer, currently serving as the minister for Culture, Community and Youth and the second minister for Law. Appointed in 2020, he has been an influential figure in shaping policies related to cultural integration and community development within Singapore. Tong is also a member of the governing People’s Action Party (PAP) and has represented the Joo Chiat division of Marine Parade GRC in Parliament since 2011.

Over the past two years, Tong has made significant contributions to Singapore’s cultural and community landscape. In October 2021, he announced the creation of the President’s Award for Inspiring Achievement, aimed at recognising individuals who have overcome personal adversities and made impactful contributions to society. In parliament, Tong has actively engaged in promoting sports as a means of community building, emphasising the importance of grassroots participation and social connections through initiatives like Sports for All. Tong remains a pivotal figure in promoting cultural cohesion and community welfare in Singapore.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Tong has a personal passion for football and served as the vice president of the Football Association of Singapore from 2013 to 2020.
